The story The Long Road to Serenity by M.L. Garcia is a new adult/romance book. It is a wonderful story about friendship and love. It is a story that was very emotional to read. There were times when I was smiling and others when I had tears in my eyes. This is the story of Astraea Salvo and Gabriel Varon. They meet when they were young and formed a friendship that grew stronger as they grew older. There comes a time when the connection between them starts to change from friendship to attraction. Then one of them finds themselves facing the emotional effects of combat and pushing the other away. They then find their lives on separate paths. Even so, the bond that they have always shared will not go away. Is that bond strong enough to pull these two back together and start the relationship that both have always wanted? Read this book to find out if these two find an HEA together. Astraea and Gabriel are amazing characters. I loved reading about how they first meet and how their friendship grows. The story also gives you a look into the thoughts and emotions of Gabriel once he has return home from combat. He has a hard time adjusting and finds himself pushing Astraea away when she reaches out to help him. He believes himself to be broken and that she would be better off without him. Astraea is a strong, independent woman that even though she has had tragedy touch her life always pushes forward. This is a couple that deserves happiness and I wanted them to find that happiness together. There are other characters that you read about who love and support both Astraea and Gabriel. I enjoyed reading about how everyone interacts and the bantering that goes back and forth between everyone. The road that is traveled on is sometimes long and not always a straight line. This story took me on a journey that touched my heart and I am so glad that I read it. I can’t wait to read what the author writes next.

It's been a long time since I've read something sweet and precious. Something that I can hold dear and close to my heart. But I finally read The Long Road to Serenity by M.L. Garcia. This was my first experience with this author, and let's just say that she did not disappoint me.

We get to meet two beautiful souls – Astraea Salvo and Gabriel Varon. Two souls that meet as young little children and strike a friendship. A friendship that is nurtured throughout the years, regardless of the distance. A friendship that grows and turns into something else – more and beautiful.

I think that books like these are something that I crave – because of the wounding and healing that they offer a reader. The journey that these two go through is one riddled with trials and tragedies. But it's those trials that make a person strong. And if you have someone there with you, that has experienced tragedies – although not the same – it creates an even deeper and stronger bond.

I have to say that the author did an incredible job of building a beautiful world, with characters that fit right in. Characters that grow and mature beautifully.

I think this book hit me more than what I expected – because it deals with real life situations and struggles. Situations where I've seen firsthand (with my own loved ones). I don’t often get too personal when I review a book, but sometimes – when a book deeply touches me, I can't help but get personal. I, myself suffer from PTSD – and no, I didn’t serve in the military. But I can honestly say that I know exactly what those struggles are like.

Anyways, I was amazed at how beautifully this book was written. At how much care and thought the author had put into creating and gifting these characters, their lives, trials, tribulations and success to us – the readers. I love traveling those journeys with the characters and seeing where they go, and how they got there.

I definitely consider this book a 5-star review. I can't wait to dive back into this style of writing and see what else there is to be offered.

This is a New Adult Romance with some Suspense. It's an emotional Coming of age story about the main character, Astraea, trying to find her path in life, while building a genuine friendship and finding love. But nothing is ever as easy as she Would hope it to be. Life challenges get in the way and unexpected twists and turns take Astraea and her best friend, Gabriel, down two different paths in life. Will they be able to find their way back to each other or will changes rip them apart forever? Only time will tell. It's worth the read for those who enjoy a great romance with strong character building.
(Not sure why this book is listed as a Children's book or Spiritual book here on , but it's not really either. It's for mature readers.)
