This is the second book of the Tomoiya’s Story series, and my second venture into the world of the fantastic worlds and sci-fi settings on different planets. I was impressed by the unique take on vampires in the first book, and now I enjoyed their setting in the space civilisations even more. This is not just another vampire story. To me it was mainly a story about humanity, because the author makes us look at humans from a different perspective, and certainly makes the reader ponder some philosophical questions.

This book has an interesting blend of themes and I like the approach of C.A King. Tomoiya is a well-written, relatable character, one that holds the stories together. She is not black and white, has a rich inner world, and so I hope to read more about her in the future.

Tomoiya Story Collecting Tears eBook CA King Reviews

Totally loved it. This is my second series to read by Ms King and it's just as good as the first. The stories have a way of pulling me in from the first page to the last the only negative is when the story is over I miss the world the book has created for me.
This YA Sci-fi novelette is a great depiction of how a utopia can collapse in one night. I know this is a prequel to another book about Tomoiya and that's the next book on my reading list by C.A. King. This story leaves me intrigued to find out more about what happens in the next.
Wow. My first time reading one of C.A. King's books. I'm impressed. I love how she mixed both worlds. Some parts of this story can be intense when humans interact with un-humans, so well worth the read! Be prepared to be reading throughout the night and not put the book down to get to the end. I loved reading about Tomoiya's past and look forward to reading about her future.
YA fantasy novella set in a galaxy-spanning civilization and presenting a unique take on royal families and vampires. Not for science fiction readers who demand plausible or even fully-sketched world building. But readers willing to suspend disbelief will find a fast-moving tale with lively writing, involving plot, and a sympathetic protagonist. I especially liked the “voice” of the heroine’s thoughts presented in italics.
After reading Tomoiya's Journey, I was excited to dive into this continuation. As always, C. A. King's writing is excellent, but I didn't enjoy the beginning of this read as much as the first in the series. About half way into the story when some bad things happen is where it really clicked for me and I was eager to find out how it would end. I thoroughly enjoy these shorter pieces by King (this being my 3rd) - she does an excellent job of telling what needs to be told without any extra 'fluff'. I'm looking forward to the next book in this series and recommend it for anyone that enjoys a different take on vampires.
I was pleasantly surprised by this story. I'm not one for vampire tales, its not my preferred tales when it comes to fantasy and supernatural beings, but this one I could enjoy. I think i made the mistake of reading this book before realizing there was a first book. I am going to have to go back and read the first story to this, but I was still happy with what Ive read. C.A. King does a great job writing and the depth to this creativity was captivating. I love a good character and series that have many layers to it. It keeps you guessing and makes it more realistic. This was a nice and different take on vampirism that isn't so cliche with the rest of the vampire world.
Tomoiya's Story is a trilogy. I greatly enjoyed the first part, "Collecting Tears". It has short chapters, making it easy to read as you have time. But this one is tough to put down.

It is a finely woven tale of human nature where the non-humans are FAR more humane than the humans! Tomoiya is a princess with solid values, a very close friend and a good life. The story takes place in a future where intergalactic travel and terra formed planets are common place. Even small solar systems are chosen for distinct purposes!

But secrets about people's race lead to unexpected problems. Group mentality and the use of media for spreading propaganda are well orchestrated, both in the forefront and behind the scenes. But a charismatic person fills normally intelligent people with falsely created fear. The portrayal of the way people lose individual critical thinking ability when mass hysteria takes hold, is a particularly well written.

C.A. King's foreshadowing makes the plot a bit obvious (to me), but her inclusion of Tomoiya's "Royalty Rules" and her inner thoughts in the altered font style, both work wonderfully as story elements without asking a reader to read an elongated backstory to understand the main characters. There is a key backstory in one latter chapters, but the remaining backstory is strewn neatly throughout the book. They all feel quite fluid in the story, and quite essential.

I look forward to the second book in the series,
"Escape to Darkness", which is already available. The final installment of the trilogy hasn't been named, but is slated for late 2018 or early 2019.

I am a new fan of C.A.King's work as an author. I am reading three different story lines. All are intriguing and entertaining. And C.A.King's an independent author, so her works are inexpensive in format.

I never met Mrs. King, but we have chatted. She is a nice person. She enjoys meeting her fans at events, and will even correspond when she has time. A creative fiction writer's work is never really done!

Bottom line, it's a tear jerker. A vampire story that questions our understanding about other races. People are individuals. Leaders use generalized fear and tricks to continue hate and oppression. And this book clearly ends with the stage set for the second book. I can't wait to read it and see where the story leads!
